Thursday Oct 06, 2016
The Unexpected Birth Journeys series of Rockstar Birth Radio is about births that did not go exactly as expected. However, more importantly it is of mothers who have moved through their experience with grace and wisdom and an empowering message to share with you.
April Brooks was in labour for 6 weeks – yes you heard me right – when her birth journey began at just 28 weeks gestation. In this episode, April discusses life living in hospital on bedrest for nearly two months, and also shares her son’s birth story who was born at 33 weeks and is now a thriving toddler. You can follow more of April’s journey at aprilbrooksblog.com or @mrs.aprilbrooks on Instagram.
You can also read April’s birth story on the Rockstar Birth Blog.

The Unexpected Birth Journeys series of Rockstar Birth Radio is about births that did not go exactly as expected. However, more importantly it is of mothers who have moved through their experience with grace and wisdom and an empowering message to share with you.
Emily Glover experienced a near-ideal labour before experiencing a severe tear. If you are pregnant then now may or may not be the right time for you to hear Emily’s birth story, but if you are a birth worker then i implore you to listen in as Emily shares her personal learnings into the importance of validating birth fears, using appropriate language with birthing women, and how best to support women who have suffered birth trauma.
Birth and motherhood has highlighted to Emily how much our mind affects our physical experience and how underrated being informed, empowered, and supported along this journey is for our mental and physical health.
